There are primarily three channels through which you can apply for a visa to the UAE
(a) Applying through a Sponsor in the UAE
(b) Applying through Dubai Visa Processing Centre (DVPC)
(c) Applying through Dubai Marhaba Services (DMS)
Applying through a Sponsor in the UAE
Indian Nationals intending to visit UAE must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) through their sponsor in UAE. The sponsor must submit the passport details to the Immigration Directorate for the issue of this.
The processing time for the visa ranged between 7-15 days and the visa fees are paid by the sponsor while applying for it.
Applying for UAE Visa through DVPC or DMS
Firstly, you can apply for your visa in India through the Dubai Marhaba Services (DMS) or Dubai Visa Processing Centre (DVPC). Please note that you can apply through DVPC only if you are flying on Emirates Airlines as the centre does not accept applications if you are flying onboard other airlines.

There is an Eligibility Criteria for applicants. You can qualify from any one of the below criterias for UAE visa application. The document checklist section explains the mandatory & optional documents required based on the Criteria applicable to you.
Criteria I: Travel Record
This criteria allows grant of a visa to UAE based on travel history of the applicant for the last 5 years. Applicants who have travelled at least once in the last 5 years to or has a valid visa for countries like USA, UK, Schengen countries, European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Canada, Switzerland and Japan or have evidence of travel records in the last five (5) years to the UAE.
Criteria 2: Financial Records
Those applicants who don’t qualify under Criteria 1 can apply under this criteria by providing financial records either Form 16 or previous 2 Years Income Tax return where the gross income from business, profession or employment, exceeds INR 2 lakhs per annum
Applicants can also qualify under a special Economical status criteria, by providing Original & Photocopy of Income Tax returns, Salary slips of the last 6 months, Photo copy of Pan Card OR Original & Photocopy of Fixed Deposit Receipts
Criteria 3: Invitation from immediate family member residing in UAE on family status
This is applicable for close family members only. Examples:
• Invitation from the spouse
• Parents can invite children
• Employed children can invite parents
Application Centres
Once you have completed your application depending on the application provider you can process your application through the multiple ways:
1. Dubai Visa Processing Centre (DVPC):
• Online Application: This can be done via Emirates Airlines website, once you have confirmed ticket with Emirates, using the Manage Bookings section you can access their range of services including visa application
• Visa Application Centres: DVPC has 10 centres all over India. The list can be found here
• Blue Dart: DVPC applications can also be forwarded through Blue Dart acceptance centres . A list of application centres is available here.
2. Dubai Marhaba Services (DMS):
• Online Application: This can be done via the DMS application portal
• Visa Application Centres: Multiple Visa Application Centres are available at different cities around India. You can locate the application centre closest to you here.
All application centres are generally open Monday to Friday between 9.30am to 5.30pm.
Post Submission
Once the application has been proceed, an electronic visa will be generated and be sent to your email address mentioned on the form. If you have applied via offline channels, your service provider can provide you a printout of the visa.
To enquire the status of your visa application you can contact your service provider through which the application has been lodged.
The processing time is usually 3-4 working days excluding the date of submission, Saturday, Sundays & UAE Holidays.
OK to Board (OTB)
An important aspect after you get your visa is to check if the details are correct and contact your airline to enter OK to Board (OTB) status on your ticket. This additional requirement is from the airline without which a traveller won’t be permitted to board a flight to the UAE (from select airport in India).
After rechecking your UAE visa, please contact your airline to mark your flight PNR as OK to Board providing them with your visa details. Airlines may charge an additional fee for the service. Its recommended that this is done atleast 48 hours prior to departure to the UAE.
